Experiencing the highs and lows of building a model railway.

This week has been a bit of an emotional roller-coaster, where nothing seems to have ran smoothly...

This week has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster, with highs and lows during my time working on the layout!

After a previous conversation with David Ormesrod, (Apologies to him - I previously called him David Ormseby…) about how I was covering the hinges on the drawbridge section of my layout, I was looking for some inspiration for how to hide them...

I started searching for images for inspiration, and this search led me to come across the Friend’s of Norsegate Central [SIC] Facebook page, ran by Owain David Evans.

The page features some beautiful scenic areas of his own layout! Having looked through the photos of his layout, I was really inspired by the beautiful bridge in front of the window!

It gave me lots of ideas on how I will tackle the drawbridge section of my own layout, covering the hinges up so they are not visible!

However, before I start any scenic areas, I decided that I needed to get my track layout finished, all of the track laid and everything thoroughly tested beforehand...

I decided that the area for track on the side wall needed to be extended so that I had enough room where I was planning on adding a shunting yard...

Unfortunately, the "measure twice cut once" only works if you measure the correct thing! A few mistakes were had…

Then the mistakes kept coming whilst I was attempting to solder the track in the corner section to the track on the drawbridge section…

AAARRRGGGHHH!!
